Hani Hideaway & Sustainability

Hani Hideaway embraces a range of sustainability practices to minimize its environmental impact and contribute to the preservation of Gili Air’s natural beauty. Here are some of the sustainability initiatives implemented at Hani Hideaway:

Community Engagement: The hotel actively engages with the local community, offering employment opportunities and supporting local businesses. It collaborates with nearby schools to provide educational programs and scholarships, contributing to the well-being and development of the local children. This commitment to community engagement ensures that the hotel's operations benefit the locals and foster a sense of pride and ownership.

Water Conservation: The hotel implements water conservation measures throughout its operations. Low-flow fixtures and water-efficient technologies are installed to minimize water consumption. Guests are also encouraged to participate in the hotel's towel and linen reuse programs, reducing unnecessary laundry and conserving water resources.  We also have our own well and filtered water system that we use.

Waste Management: A comprehensive waste management system is in place to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste. The hotel actively promotes recycling by providing clearly labeled recycling bins and educating guests and staff about proper waste disposal practices. Additionally, organic waste is composted to produce nutrient-rich soil for the hotel's gardens.

Locally Sourced and Organic Ingredients: The hotel prioritizes using locally sourced and organic ingredients in its culinary offerings. By supporting local farmers and fishermen, the hotel reduces its carbon footprint associated with transportation and contributes to the local economy. This also allows guests to savor fresh and sustainable meals that showcase the island's flavors and culinary traditions. We also have our very own garden where we grow our own herbs and fruits in.

Conservation and Protection of Marine Life: The hotel actively participates in marine conservation efforts. It promotes responsible snorkeling and diving practices, educating guests about the importance of preserving coral reefs and marine ecosystems. The hotel also supports local initiatives focused on reef restoration and the protection of endangered species, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the island's marine environment.

Sustainable Building Design: The hotel's infrastructure is designed with sustainability in mind. Natural ventilation systems, energy-efficient lighting, and insulation materials are incorporated to minimize energy consumption. Traditional architectural elements are integrated into the design, utilizing local craftsmanship and materials, which helps preserve the island's cultural heritage.

Through these sustainability practices, Hani Hideaway demonstrates its commitment to environmental stewardship, cultural preservation, and community empowerment. By incorporating sustainable principles into every aspect of its operations, we strive to create a positive and lasting impact on the island and inspire our guests to adopt sustainable practices in their own lives.
